On September 13th, a very exciting event took place at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran – the laying of the cornerstone for the village’s new residential neighborhood. The ceremony took place in the presence of the Blodinger family from Frankfurt, Housing Minister Yoav Galant, Director General of the UIA Greg Masel, Head of the Merhavim Regional Council Shai Hajaj, and friends from ADI.
The new neighborhood will be named after Ignaz Blodinger, who passed away ten years ago, during the second Lebanon War. Shortly before his death, Ignaz arranged housing for over 100 Galilee residents who were forced to leave their homes, at hotels that he owned in Frankfurt. His legacy has been perpetuated by his family – his wife, Nina, and his children, Anat, Phillip and Yossi, in continued contributions and donations to Israel and the weakest members of her society.
The new neighborhood will be adjacent to the village, and will enable staff, volunteers and students to be more available and more accessible to the village’s residents and patients, saving valuable time currently spent on long drives to work, and contributing to the unity and quality of life of the village’s staff. Additionally, the neighborhood will provide housing for staff of the planned rehabilitation hospital.
