Dr. Robin Akselrud, occupational therapist and Special Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy at Hofstra University, arrived at ADI Jerusalem together with fellow occupational therapist Miriam Birnbaum and third-year OT students Malka Ostreicher, Serach Shochet and Freidi Abramson on a special solidarity mission to show support for Israel.

The group arrived with suitcases full of OT equipment and toys, and seamlessly integrated into work with ADI OTs in the centerโ€™s Respiratory Unit and High Dependency Wing for three days of intense, professional therapy.

โ€œIt is so important to give back, and I wanted to show my students the value of their service. But as much as they gave, the learned even more from ADI staff,โ€ said Robin. โ€œADI is an incredible asset to the community. The staff is comprised of a warm and cohesive group of practitioners who work with the residents as if they are their own children. The is so much love and natural connection that they are truly like a family. We couldnโ€™t stop smiling the entire time we were at ADI.โ€

Dr. Akselrud is already planning a new, longer mission with more participants, and we look forward to welcoming them back to ADI Jerusalem.
