ADI Negev-Nahalat Eranโ€™s Children Enjoy a Day at the Beach with Navy Soldiers

After their moving visit to ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran two months ago, the soldiers from the operations unit of the Israeli Navy felt that they wanted to continue their relationship with the residents, and hold a significant voluntary project. As the soldiers serve at the central base in Tel Aviv, regular volunteering is not possible, so the soldiers and their commander decided on a very special and different type of activityโ€”a day at the beach!

Two weeks ago, on a Thursday afternoon at 4:00 pm, the residents met the soldiers at the beach in Ashkelon. The residents arrived at the beach together with their caregivers and National Service girls, to discover that the soldiers had organized a very special and enjoyable afternoon for them, with mats, chairs, guitars, fruit and games.

Going to the beach is not a routine activity for the villageโ€™s residents. Beach access roads are not wheelchair accessible, thus a large number of staff members are required for such an outing. But despite these difficulties, thanks to the amazing unit of soldiers that organized and assisted, many residents were able to participate in the outing, and they could all go into the waterโ€”even those in wheelchairs! It was an unforgettable experience for them, full of positive energy and excitement!

A huge THANK YOU goes out to the soldiers and commanders that organized the activity and helped the participants in every way. We are looking forward to the next eventโ€ฆ
