Not Happiness makes us Grateful, but Gratitude makes us Happy

Involved with a local working group in Holland, we promote and support various goals in Israel. That is how we came into contact with ADI. Our interest was piqued and we wanted to experience this personally through volunteer.

We left for Israel in February to ADI Negev. We have had a very special time with the residents, other international volunteers and the staff! By working together with the caretakers and the Banot Sherut we quickly learned to find our way in the houses Keshet and Zohar. We were allowed to help the residents with care, eating, walking, guiding the various workshops and with music therapy. This gave us more and more confidence.

It was an exciting time to discover better who the residents are and what their specific needs are. The most important thing is to give love and attention. The smile and hug you get then is beautiful and makes you thankful! Every resident is a unique Pearl!

Unfortunately we had to return early due to the Coronavirus. What an experience to rediscover what it is like to love your neighbor as yourself. Giving help and love makes you grateful. This experience will accompany us for the rest of our life!

Not happiness makes us thankful, but Gratitude makes us Happy!

With kind regards,

Wim and Hendrika van den Noort
