Message from Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis

Rabbi Sir Ephraim Mirvis at ADI Jerusalem הרב לורד אפרים מירוויס בעדי ירושלים

MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF RABBI

Over the years, I have heard ADI referred to as a place where “angels are loved and cared for by angels.” Following my visit to ADI in March 2017, I clearly understand why.

As the ADI professionals led me around the wonderful Jerusalem facility – one of four across Israel – they pointed out the specially-designed living quarters and state-of-the-art rehabilitation and special education classrooms, while detailing the unique methods used to provide children with severe complex disabilities with a continuum of loving care from infancy and childhood through adulthood.

Thanks to ADI’s professional staff and innovative programming, over 700 Israeli children and young adults with complex disabilities are able to live much like their mainstream peers, are accepted by a wider segment of the population, and develop far beyond the boundaries of their initial prognoses.

In the true spirit of our Jewish tradition which values the equally precious life of every individual, I saw how the ADI staff and volunteers create a warm, loving and supportive environment, which allows the children to thrive and reach their fullest potentials. Beyond that, ADI does not only help the children in their care, but they also have a very welcome and crucial impact on entire families.

I am proud to be a Patron of the British Friends of ADI.
