💚🦵🏻𝗔𝗗𝗜 & 𝗘𝗩𝗣: 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗵𝗮𝗯 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁-𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗼𝗲𝘀 💪🏻🇮🇱 With more than 20,000 war-wounded civilians since October 7, Israel is grappling with a severe rehabilitation crisis. And with many staff members displaced or serving in the IDF, the Kaylie Rehabilitation Medical Center at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran - the first and ONLY rehabilitation hospital in Israel's south - is in need of many more Physical and Occupational Therapists to care for its ever-growing patient population. Thanks to the partnership of the Emergency Volunteers Project (EVP), passionate and compassionate PTs and OTS from the United States have lending a hand to enhance inpatient and outpatient care for the hardest hit communities in southern Israel. Week after week, valiant volunteers like Ariella Lipetz and Sammy Esterson give their hearts and souls to our rehab patients, becoming integral parts of our professional team and helping us ease the national rehabilitation crisis. We are so grateful to EVP for providing us with the talent we need to continue our crucial mission during these difficult times!

"You never know what to expect when you sign up for an Israel mission, and I was pleasantly surprised in every way. There were so many important and emotional moments, so many highs and lows. But we were most fortunate to volunteer at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, a unique rehabilitation village where we were presented with the opportunity to experience things that changed our outlook on everything. I will never forget how my eyes were opened that day!" 👀🧠❤️

🍌 BANANAS FOR PASSOVER CAKE: To prepare for the upcoming Passover holiday, ADI Jerusalem's special educators have been teaching our residents about the unique customs and prohibitions of the week-long festival. During baking class, they worked with the residents to prepare banana bread made with Matzo meal, explaining that regular flour cannot be consumed during Passover. When the cake was ready to serve, an eager little helper distributed the sweet treat to all of his friends...along with delicious hugs. It was a tasty tutorial and a wonderful bonding experience! 😋🫂

🤫 NEVER SAY NEVER: Idan is a student at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran's special education school. When Idan was born, his parents were told that he would be a wheelchair user for life - that he would never walk. At ADI, we take words like "never," "can't" and "won't" as a dare and help each child charge forward towards their greatest potentials. With extensive physical therapy and hydrotherapy, a specialized walker that is formfitted to his body and the patient instruction of his teachers, Idan has taken control of his own mobility. Every day, he happily walks (and often runs!) through the hallways of the special education school and the adaptive playground unassisted, dodging obstacles and going wherever he pleases. Thanks to ADI, Idan doesn't believe in "never." 🤩

🍬❤️ SHIMON'S SWEET BIRTHDAY BLESSINGS: 🎈🙏🏻 Shimon is a long time ADI Jerusalem resident who's known for his pure heart and infectious smile. To celebrate his 19th birthday, Shimon decided that he wanted to bless others and make them happy. And boy did he succeed! With the help of Shira, his dedicated National Service volunteer, Shimon prepared candies adorned with special birthday blessings and ventured out to Jerusalem's Central Bus Station to distribute them. Everyone he met was so moved by this beautiful gesture that they immediately blessed him in return. Shimon was thrilled to spend his special day spreading love and light, and the sheer delight on everyone's faces was the best birthday gift he could have ever received. We can all learn a lot from Shimon.🎂
