Yisrael Gilad’s battle with cancer does not stop him from volunteering at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran.
A native of Argentina and a retiree from Kibbutz Mishmar HaNegev, Yisrael has shown up regularly to volunteer at the village, at least twice a week for the last three years. Yisrael assists in all kinds of jobs, working with rehabilitation patients and residents, lending a hand wherever needed, and projecting happiness and offering a smile to everyone he meets along the way.
With a cheerful countenance, Yisrael is always ready to do more. His giving personality and desire to help have led Yisrael to other corners of the village, constantly searching to see what else needs to be done and where he can lend a hand.
Therapeutic gardening staff see Yisrael as one of their own, and Yisrael reciprocates, providing special attention and sending personalized Shabbat Shalom text messages each week.
In a gesture of gratitude, ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran bestowed the Outstanding Volunteer Award upon Yisrael, emphasizing his indefatigable spirit of volunteerism.
Thank you, Yisrael, for all you have done – for the spirit of motivation you instill and your never-ending desire to help. Thank you for becoming part of the ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran family.
We wish you a full recovery and many more years of good health, and we look forward to enjoying your continued optimistic presence within the village.
We love you, Yisrael, and we are so proud of you.
