Following the horrendous Hamas terror infiltration of October 7 and the ensuing Iron Swords War, many countries issued travel warnings, advising citizens not to venture into Israel. Two young men from the town of Chemnitz in Germany, were not deterred. They knew they were needed, and they were not afraid.
Lukas Blumel and Timon Linder had their hearts set on volunteering at ADI Jerusalem and they would not be stopped. With the help of our partner, โServices in Israel,โ the two young men, originally set to arrive in the fall of 2023, finally set foot in Israel in March 2024. Now, six months later, the residents and staff of ADI Jerusalem are loathe to let them go. Still, all good things must come to an end, and Lukas and Timon must return home.
In a touching farewell ceremony at ADI Jerusalem, the entire ADI team thanked Lukas and Timon for their amazing dedication and hard work. In addition to certificates of appreciation and lots of gifts, the two received a permanent invitation to return to ADI where they will always be received with open arms.
Timonโs time at ADI had particular significance, helping him decide on his future path in life. Upon his return to Germany, Timon plans to train as a nursing professional. While Lukas is still deciding which way to turn, we are certain that any direction he chooses will lead him on the path to success.
Thank you, Lukas and Timon, for courageously sticking to your convictions and coming to Israel to volunteer at ADI Jerusalem. We already miss you!
