As students continue enjoying the lazy days of summer, Tikkun Olam counselors are busy preparing for the coming school year.

New Tikkun Olam counselors joined current staff for a two-day symposium, beginning with inspirational addresses by Major-Gen. (Res.) Doron Almog, founder and chair of ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, Avi Wortzman, CEO of ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, Shlomit Grayevsky, CEO of ADI Jerusalem, and Sarah Herskowtiz, Director of PR and Resource Development, followed by additional informative leadership training seminars led by various ADI staff.

Day two of the program included a hands-on ceramic workshop at the ADI Ofakim Beit HaYotzer Vocational Workshop. Tikkun Olam staff worked side-by-side with Beit HaYotzer employees with disabilities, garnering practical experience in the various workshops they will be leading in schools throughout Israel. Roโ€™i Rappaport, director of the vocational workshop met with the Tikkun Olam group, detailing workshop procedure and practice, following which they were introduced to Mrs. Bela Masika, mother of a workshop employee with emotional disabilities, who shared her experiences and the day-to-day challenges facing families of children with disabilities.

After two days of intense workshops and lectures, Tikkun Olam counselors enjoyed a congenial day of fun-filled activity, enabling them to relax as they absorbed the significance of the previous daysโ€™ activities and planned their course as ambassadors of Tikkun Olam to Israeli youth during the coming school year.
