Israeli Supreme Court Justices headed by Chief Justice Esther Hayut honored ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran with a visit to the rehabilitation village last week.

The Justices toured the various departments, getting a first-hand view of the village’s unique work, serving as an integrative community center which brings people with disabilities together with members of the community on a daily basis.

Chief Justice Esther Hayut commented that she views the ideology of community integration as an important concept, one that is now incorporated into the courts as well. Similar to village activity, the courts are also developing community involvement and participation through the establishment of community courts.

A similar concept is conveyed through the village’s prisoner rehabilitation project, integrating inmates into ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran’s network of volunteers. This cooperation brings to light the desire of the village and the internees alike to become part of community life.

In the words of Chief Justice Hayut, “In my name and in the name of all of the justices who took part in this visit, I would like to express our immense appreciation to Doron Almog, initiator and founder of the village, and to all of the wonderful staff, who carry on their holy work every minute of the day, integrating and rehabilitating people with special needs. This activity fulfills the values of equality and human dignity in their deepest and most meaningful sense in a most exciting and inspiring way.”
