Stunning Success: ADI’s Virtual Cooking Class Yields Delicious Dishes and International Support

On Tuesday, August 25, ADI hosted a virtual cooking class with world-renowned British chef, author and healthy eating expert Lisa Roukin.  The ‘My Relationship with Food’ author led a delightful hour-long cooking demonstration that centered on the preparation of several delicious and healthful dishes for Rosh Hashanah and served as a platform for raising funds to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) for ADI’s residential and rehabilitative center in Jerusalem.

Thanks to more than 100 registered participants from the United Kingdom, the United States, South Africa and Israel, there was wonderful audience participation throughout the cooking class and an outpouring of support for ADI.  By the end of the evening, ADI successfully raised $14,450 (£11,000), which will be used to purchase the much-needed PPE to help ADI continue to shield its immunocompromised residents with severe disabilities from infection.

We are indebted to ADI Jerusalem LADIes Committee Member Sally-Ann Thwaites for making this wonderful event a reality.  We are the very grateful beneficiaries of her brilliant vision, guidance, and continued partnership and support.  A huge thank you as well to Liron Rosiner Reshef, Director of the British Friends of ADI, for taking care of all the on-the-ground logistics and ensuring that our participants enjoyed an evening to remember.
