Rishon Lezion Museum Hosts An Evening In Honor Of Maj. Gen. (Res.) Doron Almog

On June 9, 2016, the Rishon Lezion Museum hosted a special evening honoring Major General (Res.) Doron Almog, to mark his receiving the Israel Prize. Doron was born and bred in Rishon Lezion, and the evening was held in the presence of the Mayor of the city and other dignitaries.

A very special photography exhibition, comprising photographs taken by ADI Negev residents and by professional photographers, was mounted especially for the evening.

Over 200 people attended the evening, representing the various stations and periods of Doronโ€™s life. Guests included Lihi Lapid, wife of politician Yair Lapid and mother of a child with autism who, like Doron, works tirelessly for the benefit of the vulnerable children in Israeli society; Prof. Yaakov Neeman, former Minister of Justice, who was a member of the team that searched for the body of Doronโ€™s brother, Eran zโ€l, during the Yom Kippur War; and Adv. David Shimron, a friend of Doronโ€™s brother, Eran zโ€l.

Rishon Lezion Mayor, Dov Zur, awarded Doron the city medallion, while speaking of his visit to ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran and how very impressed he had been with the Village. He wrapped up the evening by stating that โ€œMajor General Almog received the Israel Prize, but it would be more accurate to say that he is the prize that Israel has received.โ€
