In Memory of Ulrika Holmberg (30 May 1988 – 10 April 2019)

This past March, Philip and Ulla Holmberg of Sweden attended a Stockholm event where they heard Major General (res.) Doron Almog, chairman of ADI Negev- Nachalat Eran speak about the Negev’s unique rehabilitation village. Inspired by Doron’s talk, Ulla asked daughter Ulrika to join her in Israel for a volunteering stint at ADI. Reluctant at first, Ulrika became more and more excited as the idea grew on her. A short time later, both Ulrika and her mom applied to volunteer at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran for three months.

Unfortunately, Ulrika passed away on April 10th of this year while in the process of preparing herself for her trip to Israel. Ulrika’s bereaved parents requested that family and friends donate to ADI Negev- Nachalat Eran in lieu of funeral flowers.

Philip and Ulla kept their plans to travel to Israel, and on August 18 were able to visit ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran. While touring the village Philip and Ulla met with Doron Almog and shared their story with him. It was a special moment of touching hearts between parents who share the pain of losing a child.

At the end of their visit, Philip and Ulla consecrated Ulrika’s memory by handing Doron a substantial donation to ADI Negev-Nachalat Eran, funds collected in memory of Ulrika.

Ulrika Holmberg, May 1988-April 2019. May her memory be for a blessing.
