Help ADI Solve Israel’s Rehab Hospital Bed Shortage!

Beds in rehabilitation hospital מיטות בבית חולים לשיקום

Though the ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran Rehabilitation Village is just 12 miles from the Gaza border, it provides vital and irreplaceable resources to the most vulnerable members of Israeli society – children and young adults with severe disabilities and rehabilitation patients recovering from various traumas – and evacuation and relocation has never been an option. Instead, a battalion of IDF soldiers stands guard 24/7 to keep them safe and secure while our dedicated professional staff and dynamic volunteers continue to provide them with the best possible care from the village’s many protected spaces. However, this is not sustainable for the long-term.

As such, ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran is working diligently to upgrade its security systems and establish an armed and highly trained Tactical Emergency Unit to ensure the safety of the hundreds of people who live and work at the village every day. Significant funding is urgently needed to make this a reality.

Israel’s shortage of rehabilitation beds was serious even before the war began, but now it is much more severe, with 4,500 wounded Israelis vying for the same beds in Jerusalem and the north. The Harvey and Gloria Kaylie Rehabilitation Medical Center at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran – the first and ONLY rehabilitation hospital in Israel’s south – is opening a new emergency ward to assist with the national effort by providing the highest-level medical, rehabilitative and emotional care for dozens of war-wounded IDF soldiers and civilians, keeping them close to their southern Israel homes and avoiding overcrowding at hospitals based in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Herzliya. The ward is currently under renovations and will be accepting patients within the week. While the medical equipment for this new ward has been secured, the recruitment and housing of the doctors, nurses and therapists who will work at the new ward is our top priority and most urgent funding need.

Our URGENT NEEDS include:

Tactical Emergency Unit: $100,000 – Evacuation and relocation is not an option for ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran’s incredibly vulnerable residents and rehabilitation patients, so a highly trained Tactical Emergency Unit capable of providing top-tier protection at all times must replace the battalion of IDF soldiers currently stationed at the village.

Medical Staff for New Emergency Ward: $300,000 – To assist with the national effort, ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran must recruit and house the doctors, nurses and therapists who will be working at the Kaylie Rehabilitation Medical Center’s new emergency ward.

Security System Upgrades: $500,000 – ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran’s expansive 40-acre campus must be outfitted with reinforced doors and windows, additional security cameras and enhanced alarm systems to ensure the safety of the more than 700 people who currently live and work at the village every day.

PLEASE DONATE NOW to help ADI jump-start the national healing process and protect the most vulnerable citizens in southern Israel!
