As is customary towards the end of each school year, ADI health-professions employees converged to plan a staff get-together – a team building day that would allow them to recap the year while reinforcing employee camaraderie and strengthening the bonds that make ADI staff a close-knit family of professionals.
In the past, such events included symposiums, outings or fancy meals. This year, our PTs, OTs, communication, art and music therapists unanimously decided to use their time together to express solidarity with residents of Kibbutz Beโeri, some of the hardest hit residents of southern Israel on October 7, and encourage them as they struggle to rebuild their lives and renovateย their homes. After exploring various options, a decision was made to present kibbutz residents with a brand-new picnic table, built from scratch by ADI employees.
Representatives of Kibbutz Beโeri were thrilled with the idea and expressed excitement and gratitude for the caring hearts and outstretched hand.
The ADI team spent a full day at Omanut Eitz carpentry shop in Givat Shaul, Jerusalem where they sawed, chiseled, sanded, painted and hammered under the tutelage of shop owner Yonatan and his professional workers. The final product, a beautifully hand-crafted picnic table, included a dedication plaque in Hebrew citing the words of the Lecha Dodi hymn, โArise now, shake off the dust.โ
The new picnic table will be transported to Kibbutz Beโeri where itย will be used for relaxation and fun in one the kibbutzโs new garden areas.
