ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran’s broad-minded approach to rehabilitation leads to innovative ideas and creative partnerships that facilitate progress and enhance the lives of people touched by disability.
Recently, ADI rehabilitation therapists partnered with Etgarim (Challenges), an organization founded by a group of IDF veterans with disabilities and rehabilitation personnel with the goal of social integration and empowerment through sports and outdoor activity.
Etgarim diving counselors, certified to work with people with disabilities, met war-wounded soldiers and civilians presently undergoing rehabilitation at the Harvey and Gloria Kaylie Rehabilitation Medical Center in the village’s hydrotherapy pool and introduced them to the world of accessible underwater sports. Special equipment adapted to meet the needs of various disabilities enabled all people to participate.
Following the fascinating introductory lesson, rehabilitation patients interested in learning more about diving can continue with Etgarim’s professional diving course in Eilat. The course grants participants a diving “star” and certificate, as well as one more opportunity for personal fulfillment on their road to recovery and integration.
