The Negev’s first neuro-orthopedic rehabilitative hospital, to be built on the premises of ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, will provide services to some 800 thousand residents of Israel. Slated to open in early 2019, the hospital will meet the urgent needs of residents in Israel’s southern region, providing long-term rehabilitative care following accidents, strokes, and severe injuries sustained during terror attacks. From the point of view of the residents, this is a revolutionary message, as they are now forced to travel many hours, sometimes three times a week and for many months, to the Tel Aviv area, coping with traffic jams or being away from their families for long periods of rehabilitation. The new hospital, situated at the impressive ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran rehabilitation village, will be much closer and accessible to residents and will drastically improve the state of medicine in the southern Israel.
One of Israel’s largest and most well respected construction companies won the tender for construction of the landmark rehabilitation hospital. Boasting an impressive construction history including complex projects of national importance, the company has hit the ground running, already commencing ground and fencing works.
The architectural, planning and construction costs of the new hospital, to be built on 16,800 sq. meters, stand at approximately ILS 180 million, equivalent to US$ 52 million. In its first stage, the hospital will include 72 beds in two rehabilitation wards specializing in neurological, spinal and orthopedic rehabilitation, therapy centers, a rehabilitative sports hall and an administrative building. A research center, an additional rehabilitative wing and public outpatient services are scheduled for future development, bringing a total of 108 new rehabilitative beds to residents of the Negev and surrounding areas.
