Every year to mark Tu B’shvat (the Jewish trADItion’s “New Year for the trees”), schools and youth groups across Israel take their students on nature hikes and add to the wonder of Israel’s vast forests by planting young saplings of their own. Very often, children with disabilities are left on the sidelines for such activities, but thanks to ADI’s Bnei Akiva chapter, Israel’s only chapter for children with severe disabilities, our amazing residents were able to get in on the action as well. Led by our dedicated volunteers, the ADI group visited Neot Kedumim, where they learned about Israel’s unique nature, enjoyed seasonal fruits and planted trees.
We are so grateful to ADI’s Bnei Akiva staff for arranging this fully-accessible adventure for our amazing residents. Tu B’shvat is always a fun day, but promoting inclusive activities is truly something to celebrate.
