Over the last 16 hours, terrorists infiltrated numerous towns in the Negev and more than 3,000 rockets have been fired into Israel from Gaza. ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran – located just 20 km (12 miles) from the Gaza Strip – is in the line of fire. Thankfully, everyone at the village is safe and sound, but we remain cautious, as we are still in great danger.
As always, ADI’s dedicated professional staff and volunteers are going above and beyond to keep our residents and rehabilitation patients happy and calm. All beds were moved into ADI Negev’s many reinforced rooms and all activities during waking hours took place in the same protected spaces. The ADI staff and volunteers are doing a wonderful job explaining the situation to the residents and helping them stick to their routines, bringing a sense of order to an otherwise chaotic situation.
On a more somber note, ADI has lost contact with many staff members who were home for the holiday in towns and villages across southern Israel. We will continue to reach out to them and their families in hopes of a positive resolution to this disturbing and worrisome episode.
