Yaakov, a 66 year-old resident of Ofakim, was a humble and hardworking employee at the ‘Beit Hayotzer – ADI Ofakim’ employment center, where he assembled electronic circuits for ‘Flex’ smart home devices. He leaves behind his two sons, Alexei and Michael.

On Saturday morning, October 7, as rockets rained down on southern Israel, Yaakov heard the wailing of sirens and quickly left his home to find the nearest public bomb shelter. Before he could reach the shelter, Yaakov was overtaken by Hamas terrorists who shot and killed him. In all of the chaos, it took 11 days for Yaakov’s body to be identified. Nearly two weeks after his brutal murder, Yaakov was finally laid to rest in the Ofakim Municipal Cemetery.

We join Yaakov’s family as they mourn the loss of this pure and gentle soul. May they know no more sadness, and may they be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
