With their utter dedication to the welfare of ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran, our international volunteers see and take care of much more than our residents. They notice every need and necessity, and are always willing to lend a hand, no matter what they job may be.
When it became evident that bicycle time for the residents was being cut back, a number of volunteers decided to look into the matter. What they found was a slew of broken bikes and no available budget for repairs or replacements in the near future.
For our handy volunteers, the next step was obvious.
Turning to friends and relatives via social media, our devoted volunteers began their own campaign to raise the funds needed to purchase missing or damaged bicycle parts. Once they had amassed enough money, the committed group contacted the relevant suppliers and companies, purchased the necessary materials and arranged for technicians to come to the village to fix and repair the rehabilitative bikes, restoring them to prime condition for safe and secure usage.
Tires were changed, seats were recovered and chains were replaced, and within two weeks, residents of ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran could once again be seen cycling around the village’s picturesque paths on a new, restored fleet of rehabilitative bicycles.
We are so grateful to our wonderful, resourceful volunteers for their hard work and dedication, and to the donors from the Netherlands, Germany and Taiwan who helped secure the parts needed for this project.
It takes a village to run this rehabilitative village!
