ADI Celebrates Jerusalem

The spirit of Jerusalem filled the air at ADI Negev-Nahalat Eran as the village’s dedicated National Service volunteers brought the sights and sounds of the holy city south to the village in honor of Jerusalem Day.

Village residents were able to touch a rendering of the Western Wall, taste fruits and vegetables from the iconic Mahane Yehuda open market and smell flowers and trees from the city’s beautiful Botanic Gardens as they celebrated the 56th year of the reunification of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem Day celebrations at ADI Jerusalem took a slightly different turn this year as citywide traffic and transportation complications prevented residents and students from participating in on-site celebrations. When notified of the last-minute change in plans, the center’s energetic National Service volunteers put their creative talents to work, decorating the center’s rooftop patio with flags, balloons and other paraphernalia and packing the afternoon with a range of activities that echoed the celebratory atmosphere felt throughout the city.

The spirit of Jerusalem lives in Israel, throughout the world and especially at ADI.
