Ad Verheul, co-Founder of Snoezelen, Visits ADI Jerusalem

Ad Verheul, renowned co-founder of the world-famous Snoezelen multi-sensory therapy system, visited ADI Jerusalem last week, instructing ADI staff in a workshop on sensory stimulation.

As he spoke with staff members and toured the ADI facility, Mr. Verheul imparted from his many years of experience working with people with complex disabilities, expounding on the lessons he learned over the years as he worked on and developed the Snoezelen method.

While visiting classrooms and meeting with residents, Ad reiterated his belief that therapy must be carried out according to the individual pace of each child in order to reach maximum potential. The needs of each child must be heard, and the type and level of sensory stimulation offered must be in response to those needs.

Ad was duly impressed with the education and therapy proffered at ADI.ย  He enjoyed meeting the professional staff and was pleased to see ADI Jerusalemโ€™s state-of-the-art Snoezelen center.

Ad arrived in Jerusalem as main speaker in the International Conference on Innovation in the Care of Children with Complex Disabilities, sponsored by ADI and the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation.
