A Family Brit at ADI Jerusalem

משפחה עם תינוק חדש Family with a newborn baby

Riding in the ambulance as she escorted an ADI Jerusalem resident from the hospital back to his home in the Jerusalem educational and rehabilitation center, veteran caregiver Layla Levy mentioned to ADI ambulance driver Mikki Cohen that she recently became a first-time grandmother. Layla continued grandmotherly bragging about her new grandson, but lamented the fact that due to various technicalities, the family had not yet been able to secure arrangements for a brit mila ceremony for the newborn infant.

Not one to miss a chance to help when needed, Mikki sprang into action. After receiving clearance from ADI Jerusalem CEO Shlomit Grayevsky, Mikki turned to ADI staff. With amazing alacrity and joy, ADI’s housemother, kitchen staff and administrative employees made all necessary preparations, leaving Layla’s family astounded by the outpouring of care and  kindness from all quarters.

The brit took place on time, on the eighth day following the birth of the baby, at ADI Jerusalem, with none other than the distinguished Rabbi of the Kotel and Holy Sites in Israel, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, serving as sandak. Representatives from all divisions of ADI took part in the brit, sharing in co-worker Layla’s happiness and showering parents Lusio and Michal with good wishes for much nachas and joy from their newborn son, Refael.

Once again, the ADI family displayed the boundless bonds of devotion that make ADI a unique and caring home for all – students, residents, staff and volunteers.

May we always share happy occasions!
